Cori
"One of the things I’ve enjoyed most about the Seeds of Hope programme is getting to know new people, learning from different backgrounds, and just spending time together as a group."
What is your name, how old are you, and where are you from?
My name is Cori, I’m 22 and I’m from Belfast. I got involved in the Seeds of Hope programme through my youth worker Olivia at Youth Action. I am a part of The Rainbow Factory and Youth Action.
What interests, experiences, or causes are you particularly passionate about?
I’m really passionate about social justice and caring for others. In particular, I’m interested in raising awareness around neurodiversity, as it’s not always talked about enough. It’s about more than just autism; there are lots of different experiences that deserve more understanding and space to be spoken about. I’m also really interested in the movement to end violence against women and girls, which I feel is especially important in Northern Ireland and beyond.
What are your personal and/or professional goals for the future?
In the future, I’d love to become an advocate for neurodiversity. I’d also love to explore voice acting. I enjoy reading and imagining how different characters would sound, which is something I find really fun.
What key insights, skills, or experiences have you gained through participating in the programme?
As part of Seeds of Hope, I’m working on a social action project with Ethan, where we are creating a toolkit on neurodiversity to help spread awareness and, more importantly, understanding. We hope to bring this into youth centres and schools through workshops.
What aspects of the programme have you enjoyed the most?
One of the things I’ve enjoyed most about the Seeds of Hope programme is getting to know new people, learning from different backgrounds, and just spending time together as a group.
What hobby or interest do you have that best reflects who you are as a person?
Outside of the programme, I love diamond painting. It’s something that really helps me relax and switch off.
What key experiences have stood out to you during the programme?
Corrymeela has such a peaceful atmosphere. It is a place that allows me to really enjoy everyone’s company and feel relaxed. It helps me clear my head, and it is very nice to get out of Belfast for the weekend and be by the sea!
